Taiwan: Recognition by ten more countries possible<\/p>\n

Today, the non-profit advocacy group YKON revealed that it has been
\nsecretly negotiating with a number of Microstates and Micronations on
\nfull recognition of the sovereignty and independence of Taiwan. Ten out
\nof 35 countries said they would grant recognition, either
\nunconditionally or after certain requirements are met. The negotiations
\nwere held on behalf of an undisclosed Taiwan-based organisation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis could be an important milestone on the road to Taiwan’s re-entry
\nto the United Nations,\u201d YKON spokesperson Tomas Tr\u00e4skman said. \u201cWe hope
\nTaiwan will take this generous offer seriously and enter into formal
\nnegotiations with the Group of Ten.\u201d<\/p>\n

The proposals are being presented to the public at MOCA Taipei between
\nDecember 2 and February 4, 2006. Taiwanese citizens can also express
\ntheir support for negotiations with the Group of Ten by signing a
\npetition on display at MOCA.<\/p>\n
